Spring Into A More Productive You

April 10, 2018

Spring is a great time to deep clean your home, start a healthier routine and get ready for summer. A huge benefit to this change in weather can be a result of a cleaner home, a healthier, happier you, and growth in productivity! Because spring is a popular time to buy or sell your home, Realtors can find themselves overwhelmed. Here are some easy ways to ensure you are managing your time effectively, so you can continue to grow your business.

Some quick ways to declutter more than just your home

  • Deactivate a social account or two
  • Embrace routine and schedule time to take care of yourself
  • Reduce your commitments
  • Exercise and eat healthy

The toughest part of creating a new structure is holding yourself accountable. Remember that in the end, this will benefit you. I think millennial's call this adulting? We can call it boundaries!

Agents work hard to network, keep up on social media and email marketing, generate leads, please their clients, and stay up to date on real estate trends. By implementing these habits, you are sure to make the most out of your day and week.

Eliminate distractions

The cleaner and neater your work environment, the more positive and productive you will be!

Some people can only work out of an office, some at their favorite coffee shop, some in their room or living room, some at the brokerage office… figure out what works for you and don't settle for an environment you aren't comfortable in.

When everything is laid out neatly and in order, you are more productive-  you will spend less time getting up to grab water, your computer charger, snacks, highlighter, etc. When everything you need is already all in front of you in a nice and clean area you can spend more time working and thinking deeply.

Set deadlines if they don't exist

Set realistic expectations. Many people say that they work better under pressure of deadlines, and lots of research says this is true! Look at what you have to do, start by doing a tiny task that you need to do. Or, do the task you desire to do the least, first.

Organization and time management

Plan your days and what you want to accomplish in a day planner or calendar.

We suggest writing down reminders, sometimes by days; by the hour; to do lists, etc. It’s really about finding what works for you.

  • As soon as you get a date for something (appointment, meeting) write it down.
  • Write down a list of what you need to get done during the week
  • Divide your time, plan to do part of that list in chunks every day
  • Learn to say NO.

Being a Realtor is all about a healthy work life balance. And because you don’t have set hours (one of the many appealing things about being a Realtor) you have to be even more cautious of how you spend your time. Learning to say no to friends is one of the main ways to remain productive. If you work an open house on Saturday and Sunday, give yourself Monday off to spend time with family.

Create a light at the end of the tunnel!

Tell yourself that after a certain time you’ll be done working for the night. Sometimes it helps to give yourself a specific award after you have accomplished your goal. For me, it could be once I have fully finished a blog post I get to take a 10-minute break, stretch, check Instagram, text some friends back etc. By allowing myself these rewards only after I have finished what I said I would, I have more desire to complete this task.

Recognize this spring as a time to "spring clean" your life and as an opportunity to grow your business!
