Spring Cleaning

Spring will be here before we know it, and that means Spring Cleaning! It's a chance to reset your house after a long winter, and possibly get it ready to sell if that's something you're interested in. We have a room-by-room checklist to help you deep clean your home. Hope it helps!

Entryway

  • Sweep & mop floors
  • Wipe down baseboards
  • Clean marks off walls
  • Wipe down front door
  • Clean or change out doormat

Living Room

  • Dust all surfaces & decor including blinds & ceiling fan
  • Wash slipcovers or cushion covers
  • Wash blankets & pillows
  • Clean floors (sweep, mop, and/or vacuum, plus shampoo rugs & carpet)
  • Wash windows & window sills
  • Wash or vacuum curtains
  • Vacuum couch & chairs

Kitchen

  • Clean all appliances inside & out (stovetop, oven, microwave, dishwasher, & refrigerator)
  • Clean out expired food from refrigerator/freezer & pantry
  • Declutter countertops
  • Degrease cabinets & backsplash
  • Wipe down inside of cabinets & drawers
  • Dust high surfaces like the top of the refrigerator & tops of cabinets
  • Deodorize kitchen drain
  • Wash all dish rags and sanitize sponges
  • Clean scuff marks off walls
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Clean floor mats
  • Sweep & mop floors

Dining Room

  • Dust all surfaces, including china if you have any, plus blinds, curtain rods, & light fixtures
  • Vacuum & spot clean chair cushions
  • Clean scuff marks off walls
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Sweep & mop floors
  • Vacuum & shampoo rugs
  • Wash windows & window sills

Bedrooms

  • Dust all surfaces & decor including blinds & ceiling fans
  • Sweep, mop, and/or vacuum floors
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Organize closets & donate unused clothes
  • Wash all bedding
  • Flip mattress
  • Clean or vacuum curtains
  • Shampoo any carpet & rugs

Bathrooms

  • Wipe down countertops, cabinets, & hardware
  • Clean shower (don't forget the showerhead), bathtub, & toilet
  • Clean mirrors
  • Discard expired personal care items, old makeup, etc.
  • Clean scuff marks off walls
  • Sweep & mop floors
  • Wipe baseboards

Laundry Room

  • Clean washing machine
  • Clean out dryer vent & lint trap
  • Organize & wipe down all shelving
  • Clean scuff marks off walls
  • Sweep & mop floors
  • Wipe baseboards

Office

  • Shred old documents
  • Dust all surfaces & decor plus ceiling fan & light fixtures
  • Sanitize keyboard & mouse
  • Sweep, mop, and/or vacuum floors
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Wash windows & window sills

Playroom

  • Donate unused toys
  • Organize toys into different containers
  • Wash stuffed animals
  • Sanitize toys
  • Sweep, mop, and/or vacuum floors
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Wash windows & window sills
  • Dust all surfaces including ceiling fan & light fixtures

Garage

  • Declutter tools, yard equipment, toys, etc.
  • Clean scuff marks off walls
  • Wipe down shelving
  • Sweep floors
  • Clean garage door & frame
  • Wash any windows

Other Tasks

  • Replace air filters if needed
  • Clean air vents & registers
  • Test & replace smoke alarm batteries
  • Replace light bulbs as needed
  • Sanitize door handles & light switches
