Some of the most successful people in the world swear that having a productive morning has helped their success immensely. Here are 6 things to do before 8 a.m.

Meditate, Pray, Be Thankful

The best thing to do when you wake up is to take a couple of moments to have positive thoughts. Grab your coffee, snuggle back in bed, and think about why you are thankful.

Read the Skimm

Or watch The Today Show, Good Morning America, etc. Knowing what is going on in the world will help you feel more intelligent and confident when engaging in conversations .

Exercise

There are multiple studies that emphasize the benefits of working out in the morning. Seriously, there are tons! Here are some of the top reasons to start your day with a workout.

  • Enhances your metabolism- get up, get moving, and pump up your metabolism! You burn more calories throughout the day when you work out in the morning.
  • When you work out every morning it cultivates consistency- People who exercise regularly report feeling more empowered and all around better about their work-life balance.
  • Improves your mental and physical energy- Movement can be a great source of energy, something many of us need when we start our day. But beyond that, morning exercise has been shown to improve focus and mental abilities all day long.
  • Get better sleep- if you are working out consistently, your body will enjoy a healthy sense of fatigue at the end of the day and will be ready to sleep. Say goodbye to the tossing and turning that comes when your body is restless!

Protein

When you eat protein for breakfast, you will feel more energized and ready to take on your day. You are also more likely to feel full longer, which can lead to healthier eating habits and possibly even weight loss.

Map out your day

The best way to stay productive is to make a list of what you have to get done that day. You can do this the ahead or day by day. This ensures the most efficiency.

Look towards long-term goals

If you have never written out a personal mission statement, we highly suggest it. A personal mission statement provides clarity and gives you a sense of purpose. When you start your day, read over your personal mission statement, maybe have it on a post-it note on your mirror. Reading this in the morning will guide your day in the right direction.

Work on your business, not in it

Doing the important work of planning and building structure for your business is vital. Set aside some time in the morning to work ON your business.
